CERT

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations.

Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help. CERT members also are encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in their community.

Draper offers a hybrid-style CERT program. Students will have 12 hours of interactive online training that can be completed at your convenience. The classroom portion will be taught on two separate eight-hour days consisting of skills only.

  • Class minimum 10 people- maximum 20
  • Additional requirements for class completion - FEMA ICS 700 & 800 are required prior to completion of the class
  • The course costs $35.00 for class supplies, covering the student's CERT backpack, vest, helmet, gloves, and eye protection. Pay at City Hall before class starts. Non-residents contact Unified Fire Authority (UFA) or your local city office for a class fee.

We will post on this page when dates are scheduled for the next practical skills class.

A course for those who have already completed the basic training but need a refresher.

We will post on this page when dates are scheduled for the next Refresher Training.
