Project Spotlights
1300 East Widening |
Timeline | August 8, 2022 through late February/early March 2023 |
Project Background | 1300 East will be widened from Highland Dr to Nashi Lane. New traffic signals will be added at Wayne's World Dr and Highland Dr.Mar |
Updates | March 2: Traffic signals have been activated to flashing red today. Treat these intersections as four-way stops while on flashing red. Full signal activation is planned by end of day tomorrow. The project will be in a cleanup phase for a bit and then crews will return later in the spring for paving. January 25: The persistent severe winter weather has resulted in delaying the contractor's ability to complete the concrete median, an integral part of traffic flow through the area. We are hopeful, weather permitting, that the road will be fully opened and traffic signals activated by late February or early March. Later in the spring, the asphalt will be resurfaced with an overlay and landscaping completed. December 20: Construction on 1300 East continues with a few key items remaining. Weather, difficulty with sub-contractor scheduling, procedural delays, and other factors have resulted in a longer time to completion than originally planned. We expect that the road will be fully opened back up and traffic signals activated by late January, weather permitting. Later in the spring, the asphalt will be resurfaced with an overlay and landscaping completed. The week of December 5 - 10, crews will finish prep and begin placement of concrete sidewalk and driveways. The week of November 28 - December 4, the east side of 1300 East will see preparation from asphalt driveway transitions, and asphalt driveways will be paved on Thursday. Crews will resume prep for concrete sidewalk and driveways for the remainder of the week. The week of November 21 - 27, the east side of 1300 East will experience removals, excavation, prep for sidewalks and driveways, curb and gutter placement, sidewalk and driveways placement, irrigation systems, and asphalt paving on Wednesday. The week of November 14 - 20, the east side of 1300 East will experience removals, excavation, irrigation systems, and curb and gutter placement Thursday and Friday, and prep for sidewalk and driveways on Saturday. The week of November 7 - 12, the east side of 1300 East will experience clearing of grub, removals, excavation, and storm drain installation. Highland Drive will experience microsurfacing and striping. The week of October 31 - November 5, the east side of 1300 East will experience clearing of grub, removals, excavation, and storm drain installation. Highland Drive will experience asphalt paving in the northeast corner. The week of October 23 - 30, the east side of 1300 East will experience clearing of grub, removals, excavation, and storm drain installation. Highland Drive will experience curb and gutter work, median curb installation, landscaping, and signage installation. The traffic lane switch on 1300 East from the east to the west side is planned for October 14. Additional planned work includes grading, sidewalk/driveway pouring, and traffic signal work on the west side, and clearing grub, removals, and excavation on the east side. Tree removals on the east side of 1300 East will be performed by Diamond Tree on October 18 - 20. Additional work includes clearing grub, removals, excavation, grading, granular borrow and road base, and storm drain installation. On Monday, August 8, Geneva Rock will start working on the west side of the street, from Highland Dr to Nashi Lane. Travel lanes will be shifted to the east side of 1300 East. Consequently, right turns from Wayne’s World Drive onto 1300 East will be prohibited and right turns onto Highland Drive will be Stop-controlled during this initial phase of construction. Trail Impacts: The parking area by the South Mountain Bridge will be closed until December. Please use another parking area to access the Porter Rockwell Trail, such as Draper Park, Sadler Trailhead, or Osbourne Trailhead. The Draper Canal Trail crossing at 1300 E will be closed from August 12 through late November. The Porter Rockwell Trail crossing at 1300 E will have intermittent closures beginning in late August. |
1300 East and Pioneer Rd. Roundabout |
Timeline | Postponed until 2023 |
Project Background | To improve traffic flow, a second lane will be added through the roundabout in the NB and SB directions on 1300 E. New dedicated right turn lanes will be added on the EB and WB approaches of Pioneer Rd. |
