Mayor’s Youth Council

The Draper City Mayor’s Youth Council provides youth an opportunity to increase their knowledge of civic education through practical, hands-on experience. The Youth Council is composed of students in 9 - 12 grades who are charged with representing youth in the City. The Mayor’s Youth Council will: 

  • Involve youth in local government through participation in Draper Youth Council committees
  • Increase volunteerism among youth in civic affairs
  • Enhance civic education

The application period for 2024-25 is April 1 through Midnight on May 1. Interviews with Mayor Walker will be held in May. Applicants will be contacted to schedule an interview if their application is accepted. 

A mandatory parent/student night is offered Wednesday, April 24 OR Tuesday, April 30 at Draper City Hall from 6:00 - 7:15 PM. Attendance is only required one of these evenings. 

The application period for the 2024-25 school year is April 1 - midnight on May 1. Executive Board interviews will be held in May.

Applicants desiring to serve on the Executive Board must be in grades 10 - 12, maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0, have served on the Youth Council for at least one year, attend all Executive Board meetings, and must not be a member of another conflicting Draper City organization (i.e., Miss Draper). 

The Draper City Mayor's Youth Council volunteers at City events. For 2024-25, this includes:

  • Draper Days Children's Bike Parade (July 18)
  • Draper Days (July 19 & 20)
  • International Arts & Crafts Festival (September 14)
  • Half Marathon, 10K & 5K (September 28)
  • Haunted Trail (October 10 - 12)
  • Tree Lighting Ceremony (December 2)
  • Easter Egg Hunt (April 19, 2025)
