State-wide Prohibition on Fireworks In Effect

On June 25, 2026, Governor Spencer Cox issued an executive order declaring a state of emergency due to the imminent threat of wildfire caused by extremely dry conditions and the anticipated use of fireworks. This executive order suspends the statute that prevented the state forester from prohibiting the discharge of fireworks within municipal boundaries. As a result, the Utah State Forester has been directed by the Governor to prohibit the discharge of all consumer fireworks throughout the state during the legal Independence Day discharge period.

Draper City supports the ban. Accordingly, the discharge of any consumer fireworks is prohibited, pursuant to the Governor’s executive order, within Draper City from July 2 through July 5. The state forester will evaluate fire conditions after Independence Day to determine whether to restrict the discharge of fireworks for the Pioneer Day holiday.

Anyone caught discharging fireworks in Draper City in violation of the Governor's executive order will be cited and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Fires or life-threatening emergencies caused by fireworks should be reported to 911.
