Blue Marvel Sage

Plant Details

Plant Type: Perennial
Plant Family: Lamiaceae
Plant Description: Spikes of violet flowers bloom in early summer over a mound of aromatic, dark green foliage. As the summer progresses, the flowers and the foliage fade. Cutting back the foliage to the basal leaves will result in new growth and blooms, up to three re-blooms in a year in Utah. The plant is drought tolerant once established.

Maintenance

Perennial - Herbaceous (soft-stemmed plants that die back in winter and regrow in spring): Remove spent blooms to promote rebloom later. Some plants tend to flop over after the first bloom and attempt to regrow from the base; in these cases, the old stems can be cut away in summer. As plants become dormant in the fall, remove dead leaves and stems.
