Keith Collier is Draper City’s Building Official, and is responsible for building code enforcement within our Community Development office. Keith has worked for Draper City for over 22 years, working his way up from inspector to plans examiner to Building Official.
“Draper City has given me the opportunity to advance within the building department from inspector to the position I hold now, which allows me to help those who live and work here within its limits, and doing so with the great staff I have the privilege to work with.”
He says the best part of his job is getting to help people align with state and city building safety codes. “There’s a lot of different ways you can build things. So I use the knowledge and experience I have in helping find solutions with meeting the intent of the code. I move from problem to problem, solving as much as I can and being as helpful as I can. It always feels good to walk away knowing I was able to be a part of a solution, and not just a source of a problem, and to be able to do so with a staff that has the same goals and feels the same way.”
Keith appreciates that Draper is interested in providing ways for folks to move up within the company, and he’s now watching his team members do the same. “I have a team member who used to work as a building department coordinator in scheduling inspections for us, but now she has advanced as an inspector herself. That kind of growth from within the organization is really great to see.”
Keith spends his free time with his wife and family, camping, riding horses, and fishing. Thank you, Keith, for your hard work and dedication to the structural integrity of Draper City.
