The Draper City Mayor’s Youth Council provides youth an opportunity to increase their knowledge of civic education through practical, hands-on experience. The Youth Council is composed of students in 9 - 12 grades who are charged with representing youth in the City. The Mayor’s Youth Council will: 

  • Involve youth in local government through participation in Draper Youth Council committees
  • Increase volunteerism among youth in civic affairs
  • Enhance civic education

Apply to Serve on the Draper City Mayor's Youth Council

New Applicants — An email will be coming by the end of the week of May 5 for signup times to meet the Mayor on either May 9 or 12. Business dress is required. 

Returning Applicants — An email will be sent toward the end of May; interviews with the Mayor and Executive Board will take place in the middle of May.

Applicants must review and submit a copy of the 2023-24 Commitments and Expectations Agreement along with their Application to the Draper City Mayor's Youth Council.

Interviews with Mayor Walker will be held in May. Applicants will be contacted to schedule an interview if their application is accepted. Click here to apply.

Apply to Serve on the Executive Board

Executive Board interviews will be held on May 18.

Applicants desiring to serve on the Executive Board must be in grades 10 - 12, maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0, have served on the Youth Council for at least one year, attend all Executive Board meetings, and must not be a member of another conflicting Draper City organization (i.e., Miss Draper).

Annual Events

The Draper City Mayor's Youth Council volunteers at City events. For 2023, this includes:

  • Spring Egg Hunt (April 8)
  • Draper Days Children's Bike Parade (July 11)
  • Draper Days (July 14 & 15)
  • International Arts & Crafts Festival (September 16)
  • Half Marathon, 10K & 5K (September 23)
  • Haunted Trail (October 26 - 28)
  • Tree Lighting Ceremony (November 27)
